Scientists Warn of Rising Oceans From Polar Melt

Two separate groups of scientists have studied the West Antarctica ice sheet and submitted their findings Monday. According to their research, the ice sheet is falling apart and this poses a problem. Melting ice sheets cause oceans to rise and findings suggest the melting from both Antarctica and Greenland is expected to impact society's future. The Times interviewed Ian Joughlin, a CReSIS collaborator, senior principal engineer at the University of Washington's Applied Physics program and a glaciologist at the lab's Polar Science Center.
